Contributing to Arlington's cultural and artistic diversity

The Arlington Philharmonic Association is working to provide Arlington with a first-rate musical performance group that can provide concerts, classes, and demonstrations for the public and for the public schools, and to increase citizen access to classical and traditional music. We are also establishing partnerships with the Arlington County schools to offer music education experiences and interdisciplinary programs for students of all grade levels.

For example, the orchestra director of HB-Woodlawn High School scored the re-discovered “Arlington Song” for voice and chamber orchestra for a performance at the Philharmonic’s free inaugural concert, and in the summer of 2006, the Philharmonic invited drama students from Washington-Lee High School to perform Stravinsky's "L'Histoire du Soldat".

We intend to make these performances available to all citizens of Arlington, taking advantage of the many cultural opportunities and venues in Arlington County, performing in schools, libraries, parks, and other venues.
