Arlington Philharmonic Operations Manager
Position Description: The Operating Manager is a remote-work position responsible for supporting Arlington Philharmonic programs and performances, Job duties include:
- Acting as liaison between the conductor, soloists, musicians, stage and personnel managers. Tasks include:
- Securing rehearsal and performance venues;
- In-person management on rehearsal and performance days, including coordination of volunteers
- Managing ticket sales when applicable
- Administrative responsibilities for fundraising events
- Supporting the AP Treasurer in monitoring expenses, developing budgets, and providing timely and accurate financial reports to the Board.
- Assisting with official correspondence, including mass mailing of fundraising letters and thank you letters/emails to donors
- Maintaining and updating (including audio, visual, and video uploads to) the AP website, Facebook page, Twitter, YouTube, and Google Drive;
- Tracking grant applications and alerting the Board to deadlines, Assisting with grant applications as needed.
- Assisting head coach(es) in managing the Arlington Philharmonic’s Youth Chamber Music Program, Crescendo, including:
- Acting as liaison between Crescendo’s head coach(es) and the AP Board of Directors;
- Maintaining a current roster of Crescendo musicians with name, instrument, age, school, parents and all contact information;
- Securing practice space and performance venues.
- Maintaining a current record of coaches, including email and mailing addresses, and coaching hours.
- Supporting the AP Treasurer and head coaches in monitoring coaching hours.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- At least one year management experience at a nonprofit organization or small business
- Strong commitment to symphonic music and arts education
- Proficiency with social media
- Flexible and resourceful work style
- Fundraising experience and skills a plus
- Willingness to work flexible hours
Time Commitment and Compensation
- 10-15 hours per week. Weekly hours and tasks fluctuate. Operations Manager is required to attend monthly Board meetings, usually in the evening, and occasional evening events such as fundraisers or concerts.
- Hourly compensation rate commensurate with experience.
